Calar Alto February 2010
Looking down from Calar Alto (Spain) towards Almeria, Sierra Nevada, and the clouds. A business trip brought me on my first flight, looking down on the landscape was amazing. And then, at the airport in Almeria, it felt like summer holiday, only it was February. The observatory was covered in snow and we were above the clouds. That were so many good, and yet sometimes contradicting experiences. Thanks to the strong (positive) emotions, the memory is very vivid, especially, when I look at the old photos.

Sweden 2012
A rest from the cycle tour to climb up a rock in Sweden With a friend I cycled from Göteborg to Stockholm, where we visited another friend. On the way home I cycled alone to Trelleborg, and on the second day I passed this rock and wanted to take in a view of the overall landscape.

Switzerland 2018
Swiss Alps near Thun Hiking from Bern to Burgistein provided wonderful views of the Swiss Alps. A large thunderstorm cloud was forming ahead of us, but luckily, it did move away. In the distance, partly covered by clouds are Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.

Cornwall 2018
Hidden beach in Cornwall (United Kingdom) To get here I took the sleeper train from London to Penzance and then started cycling out south towards Lands End. A tiny road heading towards the coast got my interest and led to this very quiet and wonderful beach. Even though that meant another hill (and there were loads to come, but I didn’t know that yet), it was a good decision.

Brittany 2013
Lighthouse in Brittany (France) After a challenging train ride (or better: the steps between trains were challenging, like getting with two packed bicycles from one station to another in Paris), we were on our first cycle day, heading out westwards from Brest.

Norway 2014
Polar lights over Tromsø (Norway) After spending 10 days north of the Arctic Circle, finally, on the last night before travelling home we saw Polar lights. That was the first and only time so far for me and it was amazing.
