Wachirathan Waterfall in the Doi Inthanon National Park (by Ronny Errmann)
Wachirathan Waterfall in the Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand

One of the great stops when driving to from Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon is the Wachirathan water fall. In this case the picture was taken at the end of the rainy season, which means a nice cooling moist breeze blows away from the water fall. After the hot flat valley for most of the drive, the green is also a nice difference. This is also, what causes the rainbow in the featured imgage of the article.

Thailand has a telescope on their highest mountain, Doi Inthanon, at about 2400m elevation, hence I got the chance to spend some work days in the national park a few years ago. The jungle around the telescope on the other hand has it’s challenges, observations on the transition between the dry and rainy season means the humidity is often too high to open the dome. We still could test the spectrograph successfully.
